More about us
Strengthening Community Engagement
We focus on targeted outreach, collaborative partnerships, cultural sensitivity, art workshops, mural installations, drama and storytelling, and do data-driven impact assessment. By implementing these strategies, we aim to work with communities to take action for conservation and create a lasting positive impact on local biodiversity.

One of our key strategies is to connect with the community through schools and youth programs. We organise workshops and educational programs that engage students with nature through creative expression. By involving young people in our projects, we foster a sense of ownership and inspire them to become conservation advocates.
To further enhance our impact, we are committed to digital transformation and the usage of data-driven creative visualisation techniques. We train our artists to utilise digital mediums to translate their artwork into impactful graphic design and foster collaborative artistic ventures. Additionally, we equip post-graduate students with the skills to translate data into clear interpretation and compelling visuals.

Outreach Framework
Our outreach framework aims to understand community perception of the importance of particular species, habitats, and human dimensions through pre- and post-outreach events using presentations, art workshops, and public mural installations. We are conducting pre-surveys to gather data on current knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors, and develop mural concepts that address identified knowledge gaps. We will also involve the community in the mural design and creation process to foster a sense of ownership and pride.

One of the unique aspects of our approach is the integration of art and science. By combining the creativity of artists with the knowledge of scientists, we can create more effective and impactful conservation messages. Our team of artists and researchers work together to develop artwork that is both visually appealing and scientifically valid.
This interdisciplinary approach also allows us to explore new and innovative ways to communicate complex environmental issues. By combining the power of art and science, we can create more engaging and meaningful experiences for our audiences.
Empowering Artisans
We provide a platform for self-taught artists to develop their skills, gain exposure, and connect with the community. We foster collaboration through partnerships, co-creation, and community-based art projects. We also equip artists with digital tools and skills to enhance their impact and reach.
Measurable Indicators of Success
To assess our impact, we employ a variety of measurable indicators, including:
-
Increased community awareness: We track changes in community knowledge and attitudes towards nature conservation through pre- and post-surveys.
-
Enhanced artist skills: We measure the growth in artists' technical skills and confidence through assessments and feedback.
-
Successful collaborations: We document the number and quality of partnerships formed with other organisations.
-
Positive environmental impact: We monitor changes in biodiversity, habitat quality, and community-led conservation initiatives.
Beyond the metrics; while measurable indicators are essential, they only tell part of the story. To truly understand our impact, we also consider the qualitative aspects of our work. For example, we witness the transformative experiences of our artists as they develop their skills and connect with their communities. We observe the enthusiasm and inspiration in the eyes of young people who participate in our workshops. And we hear the stories of individuals who have changed their behaviors or attitudes towards nature as a result of our efforts.
These qualitative outcomes are just as important as the quantitative ones. They highlight the power of art to inspire, educate, and empower individuals to become agents of change.

Financial Sustainability:
Earned Income: We generate revenue by selling artwork, design services, and workshops. This enables us to operate independently and continuously invest in our conservation efforts.
Collaborative outreach activities: We actively seek collaborative efforts with environmental organisations and foundations that share our vision. This additional manpower and financial support enables us to broaden the scope of our events and create innovative conservation outreach.

Our Workspace and team
Our office in Philobari, Tinsukia (Assam), is surrounded by a patchwork of natural landscapes, including the rather diminishing Doom Dooma Forest Reserve, surrounded by varied agricultural practices, with flourishing tea plantations. This location might also be a continual reminder of the fragile equilibrium existing between human activity and the environment. Through the use of our art, we hope to bring attention to these disparate landscapes elsewhere and educate young people of the Northeast about the value of sustainable livelihoods and conservation. Our team at Art for Nature combines knowledge from various fields, including humanities, biology, and communication, to speak about art that goes beyond artwork.
